
As we know that the Permanent Account Number or PAN is a 10-digit alphanumeric number that is being issued in the form of a laminated card by the Income Tax Department of India.
PAN is basically used by the Income Tax of India for maintaining the all tax details of individuals. PAN Card is also being used as the ID proof in every industry in India.
PAN is almost mandatory for all the financial transactions , opening any accounts , receiving taxable salary , sale purchase of assets and many more services.
Permanent Account Number or PAN is a 10-digit alphanumeric number that contains first five as letters, next 4 as numerals and last one is also a letter.
The fourth character of the Permanent Account Number or PAN denotes the type of holder like-
P - Person
C — Company
H — HUF(Hindu Undivided Family)
A — Association of Persons (AOP)
F — Firm
T — AOP (Trust)
L — Local Authority
B — Body of Individuals (BOI)
J — Artificial Judicial Person
G — Government
Like- if the fourth character of the PAN is "P" then it denotes that this PAN is of a person.
Fifth character of the PAN is the starting character of the surname(in case of Personal). For other than Personal it is starting character of organization/entity.
The last character of the PAN is the check digit.
As we know that we can apply PAN either through the UTI or through the NSDL.
So, we can check the status of the PAN Application in below ways -
Check or Track the PAN Card Application Status through the NSDL
1. Visit the NSDL Website
2. Select the Application Type from the list.
3. Enter the Acknowledgement Number OR
Enter the Last Name, First Name , Middle and select your Date of Birth.
4. Now, Click on Submit button to see the PAN Card Application Status.
Check or Track the PAN Card Application Status through the UTI
1. Visit the UTI Website.
2. Select the Application Type.
3. Enter the Coupon Number.
4. Now, Click on Submit button to see the PAN Card Application Status.
Get detail of your pan status by know your pan to be aware with your pan card.
