Now Send an SMS to book the train ticket; IRCTC will launch the SMS ticket booking service from 1st July 2013

Now passengers can book a train ticket by just sending a simple message to the IRCTC designated numbers.

IRCTC will also provide the IVR type of system in which passengers can book the train ticket by choosing the respective options.

IRCTC SMS ticket booking system will be start working from the 1st July 2013. Soon IRCTC will announce the designated numbers for the SMS train ticket bookings.

For IRCTC SMS train ticket booking service, Interested customers need to register themselves with their banks to generate Mobile Money Identifier (MMID). MMID is a seven digit random number provided by the Banks.

For the IVR(Interactive Voice Response) based booking system, customer do not need to register with any banks. Payments for the IVR train ticketing booking can be authorized through the mobile wallet.

Through the IRCTC SMS or IVR train ticket booking systems one can book max of 6 berths at a time.

IRCTC SMS based train ticket booking

Only registered IRCTC users can avail the service. Customers also need to get the MMID and OTP(one time password) from their bank.

Customers need to send a SMS with train number, destination name, journey date, travel class and passenger details like- name, age and gender to the IRCTC designated numbers.

Now sender will get a SMS from the IRCTC with the Transaction ID. Now customer need to send a SMS for the payment with Transaction ID , MMID and OTP received from the Bank.

Soon customer will get the IRCTC train ticket booking confirmation message.

IRCTC IVR or USSD based train ticket booking

User need to dial the IRCTC designated numbers for the train ticket booking. Need to select the book ticket, reservation and then enter train name, journey date destination and passenger details.

Enter your user ID and mPIN fro authorizing the payment through the mobile wallet.

After some time IRCTC will send the ticket booking confirmation message.
